Meet Matt Jezorek: Panther's New VP of Product and Security
Today, I'm thrilled to welcome Matt Jezorek as Panther's new VP of Product and Security. With more than a decade of experience leading security and technology teams at Amazon and Dropbox, Matt is a true practitioner who also understands what the business needs.
As an early adopter of Panther at Dropbox, I had the privilege of working with Matt directly and saw firsthand how he invests in strategic relationships and initiatives to drive real business results. Matt believes a security team’s most important asset is its people—and I agree. He’s not interested in chasing vanity metrics. Instead, he focuses on specific use cases that meaningfully reduce risk and empower teams to deliver outcomes. He’s pragmatic, thoughtful, and takes a measured approach to building products, teams, and programs that actually move companies forward—exactly the kind of leadership that makes a real impact.
Matt’s goal for detection & response is ambitious but grounded: detect threats within a minute, contextualize within 10, and contain within 60. He knows these timelines are tough—and still not fast enough. He works backward from the outcome by leveraging automation, clear prioritization, and continuous improvement, which are qualities I’m excited to see him bring to our product through focused development of key features. This focus will drive agility for our customers, a quality which Matt sees as essential for effective security operations at scale. He knows security teams don’t get to choose the time or place—they just have to respond. That belief fuels his relentless focus on momentum and rapid response.
At Dropbox, Matt led efforts to protect Dropbox's infrastructure, data, and users from security threats. He transitioned the company from qualitative to quantitative risk management and enhanced understanding and prioritization of security threats across the organization. He also improved Dropbox's security posture through the introduction of global phishing-resistant multi-factor authentication, delivering zero employee account compromises.
During his nearly nine years at Amazon, Matt helped build how one of the world's largest companies approached security operations. He was the eighth hire on the Security Operations team, became the Manager of Incident Detection and Response, and built Amazon's incident response program from the ground up—developing the detection, response, mitigation and reporting frameworks that protected Amazon's vast infrastructure. He formalized threat hunting and security monitoring teams, established Amazon's malware analysis and forensics capabilities, and created the feedback loops between threat intelligence and incident response that are crucial for proactive security.
Matt eventually rose to lead Amazon's elite Blue Team as Senior Manager, where he designed comprehensive security strategies that defended Amazon's systems and networks against sophisticated threats at massive scale. His work establishing metrics to measure program effectiveness created accountability and continuous improvement across the security organization. As Amazon's representative to FIRST and ICASI, he also helped shape security standards beyond Amazon's walls, bringing his practical experience to industry-wide security initiatives.
Before discovering his passion for security, Matt worked as a developer, system administrator, network administrator, and Unix administrator. What drew him to security was its complexity—the realization that, unlike engineering, where the rules are clear, security lives in the gray areas. It’s a constant puzzle, where the challenge lies in having just enough confidence to decide whether something is good or bad. That intellectual curiosity continues to drive him today, and it’s what drew him to Panther—the chance to apply his experience to help many organizations navigate that gray space with clarity and confidence.
